What is the American long term Strategy – Control the world’s global trade? – Prof. Jiang Xueqin

Is American grand strategy to control the world’s strategic choke points?

Prof. Jiang Xueqin argues that current global conflicts—especially involving Iran, China, and Russia—fit into what he interprets as a long‑term American grand strategy: control the world’s strategic choke points to dominate global trade, maintain the U.S. dollar’s centrality, and force other major powers (especially China) into dependence.

He describes a scenario in which the U.S. does not need to “win” wars outright. Instead, it aims to create or sustain instability in key regions (Middle East, East Asia, Europe) so that those regions remain dependent on American energy, financing, and security.

He claims this strategy requires three domestic pillars:
A national draft to supply manpower
Continuity of agenda (e.g., a long-term presidency)
An AI‑enabled surveillance state to prevent domestic unrest

He concludes that although this strategy may work in the short term, it will ultimately fail due to nationalism, corruption, and political division, accelerating what he sees as the decline of American global power.
